Day 1: Arrival in Shimla
Arrive in Shimla either via Chandigarh or Delhi. The day is for rest and acclimatization. Evening at leisure to explore the Mall Road.
Day 2: Shimla to Sarahan
Drive from Shimla to Sarahan (~162 km, 5-6 hours). The scenic route passes through Kufri and Narkanda, descending into the Satluj River valley. In Sarahan, visit the ancient and architecturally stunning Bhimakali Temple, considered one of the 51 Shakti Peethas.
Day 3: Sarahan to Sangla
Drive from Sarahan to Sangla in the Baspa Valley (~95 km, 3-4 hours). The road is a remarkable feat of engineering, carved into vertical cliffs along the Satluj River. Cross the river at Karcham Dam to enter the verdant Sangla Valley. Overnight at a camp or hotel by the Baspa River.
Day 4: Sangla to Chitkul and Back
Explore the Sangla Valley. Visit the historic Kamru Fort and local Buddhist temples. Drive to Chitkul, the last inhabited village before the Indo-Tibet border, known for its stunning setting amid fields and high peaks. En route, stop at Rakcham village. Return to Sangla for the night.
Day 5: Sangla to Kalpa
Drive from Sangla to Kalpa (~40-50 km, 2-3 hours). En route, halt at Recong Peo, the district headquarters, for local market visits. Kalpa offers breathtaking, direct views of the Kinnaur Kailash mountain range. Visit the Narayan-Nagini Temple complex and explore nearby traditional villages like Roghi and Chini.
Day 6: Kalpa to Shimla
Begin the return journey with a long drive from Kalpa back to Shimla (~245 km, 8-9 hours). Stop for lunch and sightseeing at Sarahan or Narkanda en route.
Day 7: Departure from Shimla
The tour concludes. Depart from Shimla for your onward journey to Chandigarh or Delhi.
