It’s a fantastic way to access and explore the breathtaking, snow-covered landscapes of the Manali region, turning trails that are challenging in summer into beautiful winter wonderlands accessible to all skill levels.

What is Snow Racketing?

Snow rackets or snowshoes are lightweight plastic-fiber frames worn over boots, designed to distribute your weight over a larger surface area. This prevents you from sinking into deep snow, making hiking across winter landscapes significantly easier, less tiring, and more stable.

The practice opens up trails around Manali that would otherwise be inaccessible, allowing you to reach stunning alpine meadows, high-altitude lakes, and remote villages cloaked in snow.

• Beginner Day Trip: A perfect introduction. Includes gear, guide, and a 2-3 hour hike on gentle terrain like Gulaba or Sethan to build confidence.

• Advanced Day Expedition: For experienced hikers seeking a challenge, tackling trails like Lamadugh or a long push towards Beas Kund.

• 4-Day Winter Trek Package: An immersive adventure including accommodation, meals, and guided treks to locations like Ghoshal Village.

  • Sample Itinerary: Arrive Manali – Day hike acclimatization – Trek to Ghoshal Village – Free day & departure.

Note: Given the variable snow conditions due to climate change, we reserve the right to propose alternate routes or activities (like rock climbing or day hikes) if conditions are unsafe or lack snow. Any extra transport costs will be communicated in advance.

🧤 Essential Gear & Preparation

While we provide the snowshoes (rackets) and poles, you must come prepared with the right personal clothing and equipment.

• Warm Layers: Thermal base layers, fleece or insulated mid-layers, and a windproof and waterproof outer jacket and pants are crucial.

• Footwear & Accessories: Waterproof hiking boots are mandatory. Bring woolen socks, waterproof gloves, a warm hat, and UV-protection sunglasses for the reflective snow.

• Other Essentials: Sunscreen, a daypack for water and snacks, and any personal medication.

❄️ Special Terms & Notes for Participants

• Fitness & Age: Requires general hiking fitness. Minimum age is typically 12 years, and participants over 70 must be in good physical condition.

• Safety & Responsibility: Our guides’ decisions on the trail are final for group safety. All participants must acknowledge the inherent risks of mountain travel, including weather and avalanches.

• Insurance: Comprehensive travel insurance covering adventure activities and emergency evacuation is mandatory.
