Day 1: Drive from Dehradun to Sankri (1,950 meters)
The journey begins with a scenic 8-9 hour drive from Dehradun, following the Tons and Supin rivers. Pass through the town of Mori and enter the Govind Wildlife Sanctuary. Arrive at the picturesque village of Sankri, your gateway to the trek, with stunning sunset views of the Swargarohini peaks.
Overnight: Guesthouse in Sankri.
Day 2: Trek from Sankri to Taluka & Drive to Sankri (Alternative: Sankri to Pauni Garaat)
Option 1: A short 3 km trek descends to Taluka (1,900m), followed by a drive back. This is often a warm-up day.
Option 2: For a full trekking day, continue from Taluka on a gentle trail along the Supin River, through forests and villages, to reach the campsite at Pauni Garaat/Seema (2,350m).
Trek: 3 km to Taluka or 12-14 km to Pauni Garaat.
Overnight: Camp at Pauni Garaat or Guesthouse in Sankri.
Day 3: Pauni Garaat/Seema to Kalkattyadhar (2,750 meters)
The trail climbs steadily from the riverbed into beautiful mixed forests of oak, pine, and rhododendron. Pass through the quaint village of Gangad. The campsite at Kalkattyadhar offers clear views of the surrounding ridges and is known for its serene atmosphere.
Trek: 7-8 km | 4-5 hours.
Overnight: Camp at Kalkattyadhar.
Day 4: Kalkattyadhar to Har Ki Doon (3,566 meters)
A rewarding day’s trek brings you to the destination. The path traverses through the lush meadows of Osla and opens up to reveal the magnificent, U-shaped Har Ki Doon valley. The valley floor is dotted with shepherd huts and offers direct views of the Swargarohini group, Black Peak, and Bandarpoonch.
Trek: 10-11 km | 5-6 hours.
Overnight: Camp at Har Ki Doon.
Day 5: Exploration Day at Har Ki Doon
A day to rest, explore, and soak in the high mountain environment. Optional hikes include climbing the nearby ridges for even more spectacular panoramic views of the valley and its surrounding peaks, or visiting the ancient temple in the village of Osla.
Overnight: Camp at Har Ki Doon.
Day 6: Har Ki Doon to Pauni Garaat/Seema
Begin the return journey, retracing your steps down the valley. The descent is easier and allows you to appreciate the landscape from a different perspective. Settle back into the campsite at Pauni Garaat/Seema.
Trek: 10-11 km | 4-5 hours.
Overnight: Camp at Pauni Garaat.
Day 7: Pauni Garaat/Seema to Sankri via Taluka
The final trekking day takes you from Pauni Garaat back to Taluka village. From Taluka, a short drive brings you back to Sankri. Celebrate the completion of your trek with the team.
Trek: 12-14 km | 5-6 hours.
Overnight: Guesthouse in Sankri.
Day 8: Drive from Sankri to Dehradun | Departure
After an early breakfast, begin the drive back to Dehradun. The trip concludes upon arrival in Dehradun by late afternoon.
